I read the article published by Ozkayar et al. with great interest [1]. They assessed the mean platelet volume (MPV) levels in familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) patients with and without amyloidosis and compared it with healthy controls. MPV level was significantly higher when compared to the control group in the FMF group. MPV level was significantly lower in secondary amyloidosis (AA) group in comparison with the FMF and healthy control groups. This is an interesting well-designed study. However, I would like to put forward some minor criticism with regard to some methodological and pathophysiological aspects. …
