Breast cancer is a site-specific cancer and is one of the major causes of cancer-related deaths among women worldwide [

2]. In India, breast cancer patients present at a later stage, mainly due to the absence of a screening program and general lack of awareness among the population, leading to higher rates of morbidity, and mortality [
3]. Hence, neoadjuvant chemotherapy becomes essential in the management of such patients as it can downstage a tumor, facilitate R0 resection and make breast conservation feasible even in locally advanced cancers, takes care of micrometastasis in locally advancer breast cancer, provides an in vivo chemosensitivity for a particular regime of chemotherapy and an intermediate endpoint for assessing response to therapy [
