This is a very interesting and well-written case report and review of specific literature [
1]. It describes a iatrogenic bilateral L5 pars lysis with acute postoperative spondylolisthesis, occurred in a 59-year-old female patient: she had a history with several co-morbidities (obesity, insulin-dependent diabetes, hypertension, depression, and chronic pain) and was operated for degenerative L3–L4 and L4–L5 spondylolisthesis with spinal stenosis, performing an L3–L5 posterior circumferential fusion and decompressive laminectomy of L4, extended up and down to enhance the canal and lateral recess decompression. A couple of weeks after this first surgery, a severe iatrogenic grade 4 spondylolisthesis L5–S1 has occurred, requiring the second index revision surgery. …
