Fetal intra-abdominal umbilical vein varix (FIUVV) is a rare fetal malformation, defined as an umbilical vein diameter larger than 9 mm; greater than two standard deviations for gestational age; 1.5 times the diameter of its intrahepatic portion or more than 50 % compared to its non-dilated portion. The prevalence rate is unknown. Recently, it has been estimated at 2.8 per 1000 pregnancies [
1]. Several case studies have been published, with a highly variable fetal prognosis [
2]. In addition, as it is a rare malformation, there are no clear protocols on its obstetric management. This case study presents the prenatal diagnosis, obstetric management, and neonatal development of a fetus diagnosed with FIUVV. …
