Zusammenfassung

Der Fieberkrampf ist das häufigste klinisch-neurologische Symptom, das zu einer akuten Vorstellung beim Kinderarzt oder in einer Notfallambulanz führt. Er tritt bei etwa 2–5 % aller Kinder zwischen dem 6. Lebensmonat und dem 5. Lebensjahr auf. In der Mehrzahl der Fälle handelt es sich um selbstlimitierende Ereignisse ohne Langzeitfolgen oder Komplikationen. Bei einem geringeren Teil der Patienten ist eine umfangreiche neurologische Diagnostik notwendig. Eines der wichtigsten Elemente der Therapie ist die Beratung der Eltern.
