The XV annual meeting of the Italian Network for Tumor Biotherapy (NIBIT) took place in Siena, Tuscany, on October 5–7, 2017. International leading scientists from academic institutions and pharmaceutical companies presented updates on new research achievements in cancer bio-immunotherapy. The meeting aimed to build a close connection between clinical and pre-clinical research. Many topics were discussed during the meeting, such as (a) tumor microenvironment; (b) epigenetics, immune cells and cancer; (c) commensal microorganisms, food, immune cells and cancer; (d) immune agonists and antagonists; (e) active and adoptive immunotherapy; (f) prospective NIBIT and NIBIT Foundation collaborations.
