The 5-year outcome of diabetic patients undergoing coronary revascularization in the Randomized On/Off Bypass (ROOBY) trial has recently been published [1]. The main finding of the study is that compared to off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) the 5-year survival is 6.1% higher in diabetics undergoing on-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Thus, there is a strong trend toward improved survival with on-pump CABG in diabetics. …

Das Karpaltunnelsyndrom ist die häufigste Kompressionsneuropathie peripherer Nerven. Obwohl die Anamnese mit dem nächtlichen Einschlafen der Hand (Brachialgia parästhetica nocturna) sehr typisch ist, ist eine klinisch-neurologische Untersuchung und Elektroneurografie in manchen Fällen auch eine Neurosonografie erforderlich. Im Anfangsstadium sind konservative Maßnahmen (Handgelenksschiene, Ergotherapie) empfehlenswert. Bei nicht Ansprechen der konservativen Therapie oder Auftreten von neurologischen Ausfällen ist eine Dekompression des N. medianus am Karpaltunnel indiziert.
