The 5-year outcome of diabetic patients undergoing coronary revascularization in the Randomized On/Off Bypass (ROOBY) trial has recently been published [
1]. The main finding of the study is that compared to off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) the 5-year survival is 6.1% higher in diabetics undergoing on-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Thus, there is a strong trend toward improved survival with on-pump CABG in diabetics. …
