Zusammenfassung

Gedächtnisstörungen stellen eine alltagsrelevante kognitive Beeinträchtigung dar und werden von Patienten mit Temporallappenepilepsie besonders häufig beklagt. Nur im Rahmen einer standardisierten neuropsychologischen Untersuchung werden die beklagten Defizite objektiviert und näher charakterisiert. Nachfolgend können in der Zusammenschau mit anderen klinischen Informationen (Läsionsort im MRT, interiktales und iktales EEG, Anfallstypen und -häufigkeit, zentral wirksame Medikamente und psychiatrische Komorbiditäten) die Ursachen für Gedächtnisstörungen individuell bestimmt werden. Die optimale Kontrolle der klinischen Einflussfaktoren vorausgesetzt kann eine Gedächtnistherapie im Sinne des Erlernens von Kompensationsmöglichkeiten bei Patienten mit Epilepsie zu einer Verbesserung der Gedächtnisleistungen führen.
