Zusammenfassung

Harnverhalt beschreibt das Unvermögen, Wasser zu lassen. Anhand der Symptomatik und der Höhe der initialen Restharnbildung lassen sich die akute und die chronische Form unterscheiden. Auslöser kann eine subvesikale Obstruktion oder eine Blasenatonie sein. Neben der Notfallbehandlung in Form der initialen Entlastung der Blase durch einen Katheter ist die Weichenstellung für eine definitive Therapie mithilfe der Klärung der Frage, ob ein akutes oder chronisches Geschehen vorliegt, wichtig. Während die Wahl des Katheters wenigen Kriterien unterliegt, ist das weitere strukturierte Vorgehen komplex. Beide Entscheidungsbäume werden im vorliegenden Beitrag vorgestellt.
