Bei Patienten mit angeborener Hämophilie (Bluterkrankheit) kann es zu Blutungen vor allem in Gelenke kommen mit der Folge der hämophilen Arthropathie. Dadurch bedingt sind Schmerzen ein häufiges Problem, insbesondere für die älteren Patienten. Für eine optimale Versorgung dieser Patienten wäre eine intensivere Zusammenarbeit von Hämophiliebehandlern und Schmerztherapeuten im Rahmen eines multimodalen Schmerztherapiekonzepts wünschenswert.
