Häufigkeit des Diabetes mellitus im Kindes- und Jugendalter in Deutschland

Zusammenfassung

Weltweit wird ein Anstieg der Neuerkrankungsrate des Typ-1-Diabetes im Kindes- und Jugendalter beobachtet. Auch für den Typ-2-Diabetes wird in bestimmten ethnischen Populationen (z. B. Ureinwohner in den USA) eine Zunahme beschrieben. In Europa wurde ebenso über das Auftreten eines Typ-2-Diabetes im Jugendalter berichtet. Dieser Artikel fasst aktuelle Zahlen zur Häufigkeit des Typ-1- und Typ-2-Diabetes in Deutschland vor dem Hintergrund internationaler Daten zusammen. In Deutschland war in den letzten 20 Jahren ein relativer Anstieg der Neuerkrankungsrate des Typ-1-Diabetes im Kindes- und Jugendalter von jährlich etwa 3,5–4,5% zu beobachten. Trotz der Zunahme von Übergewicht und Adipositas in dieser Altersgruppe ist bisher aber keine Zunahme des Typ-2-Diabetes festzustellen. Aktuell beträgt die Neuerkrankungsrate des Typ-1-Diabetes in Deutschland bei Kindern und Jugendlichen über 20 pro 100.000 Personenjahre, die des Typ-2-Diabetes etwa 1 pro 100.000 Personenjahre. Der Typ-1-Diabetes tritt also etwa 20-mal häufiger auf als der Typ-2-Diabetes und ist damit in dieser Altersgruppe ebenso wie im benachbarten Europa der vorherrschende Diabetestyp.
