Archimedes of Syracuse purportedly exclaimed “Heureka!” (in English more often spelled “Eureka!”) after he realized in the bathtub that the volume of irregular objects can be precisely measured by the amount of displaced water. The tale further describes that Archimedes subsequently ran naked through the streets of Syracuse repeating the exclamation. Although this memorable event probably never has happened historically, “Heureka!” stands for more or less sudden insight and the resolution of a long-standing important scientific problem often represents a breakthrough discovery. …
