An 81-year-old woman developed delayed hypersensitivity reaction at injection site following treatment with heparin for deep vein thrombosis prophylaxis. The woman presented with well-defined erythematous pruritic patches on the thighs and abdomen at the site of SC heparin [unfractionated heparin] injections. She had received SC heparin injections [dosage not stated] for deep vein thrombosis prophylaxis while she was hospitalised to a surgical ward for diverticulitis. About 72 hours following each SC heparin injection, she developed lesions. She received empirical treatment with methylprednisolone and fexofenadine. Her lesions abated slowly over 3-4 weeks. …
