Zusammenfassung

Die Infektion mit dem Herpes-simplex-Virus (HSV) ist weltweit eine der am häufigsten auftretenden, durch Geschlechtsverkehr übertragenen Viruserkrankungen. Der Herpes-simplex-Virus Typ 2 (HSV-2) ist die Hauptursache eines genitalen Herpes, wobei Infektionen des Genitaltrakts auch bei HSV-1 mittlerweile vermehrt beobachtet werden. Da fast 75 % aller weiblichen Patienten mit genitaler Herpesinfektion – unabhängig davon, ob es sich um eine Primärinfektion oder ein Rezidiv handelt – keine oder sogar atypische Symptome aufweisen, gestaltet sich eine korrekte Diagnose recht schwierig. Die wesentliche Gefahr in der Schwangerschaft besteht in der Übertragung des Virus auf den Feten bzw. das Neugeborene mit teils schweren klinischen Verläufen.
