Abstract

High-pitch dual spiral computed tomography (CT) acquisitions are a relatively novel technical development characterized by significantly reduced acquisition time and radiation exposure by avoiding data oversampling. This approach may therefore overcome major limitations of current cardiovascular CT imaging and be applicable to a variety of clinical settings. Given the great potential, we review technical principles, summarize available early scientific evidence and identify limitations of the technique.
