Zusammenfassung

Impfungen sind eine sehr erfolgreiche Maßnahme, um vorbeugend gegen Infektionen zu schützen. Sie werden aber auch mit einer Vielzahl von Impfnebenwirkungen in Verbindung gebracht. Nur wenige dieser Impfnebenwirkungen betreffen das Auge und sind nachweislich mit einer Impfung verbunden. Hierzu zählen die Konjunktivitis im Rahmen der üblichen Impfreaktion und der Impfkrankheit nach Impfung mit Lebendviren sowie das okulorespiratorische Syndrom/„serum-sickness syndrome“ nach Influenzaimpfung. Eine Reaktivierung/Förderung von Autoimmunerkrankungen, z. B. einer Uveitis, lässt sich nicht ausschließen, ein sicherer Nachweis hierfür ist aber bislang nicht erfolgt. Der Nutzen der von der Ständigen Impfkommission (STIKO) empfohlenen Impfungen überwiegt aber das geringe Risiko okulärer Nebenwirkungen deutlich.
