Industry payments to physicians may be related to research or unrelated to research — such as the following: consulting fees, travel and lodging, and honoraria. We compared the frequency and value of industry payments unrelated to research across the major medical specialties in 2018. Prior publications have identified that approximately half of all physicians receive payments unrelated to research but that most (~90%) are less than $10,000
