In den letzten Jahrzehnten wurden Tätowierungen weltweit immer beliebter. Damit stieg auch die Anzahl der Fallberichte über Tattookomplikationen. Dieser Beitrag erläutert die gesetzlichen Regulierungen der Zusammensetzung von Tätowiermitteln und gibt eine Übersicht über den derzeitigen Wissensstand zu dermatologischen, lokalen und systemischen Komplikationen infolge von Tätowierungen. Grundlage hierfür sind eine Analyse der aktuellen Literatur sowie Erfahrungen aus der klinischen Praxis in der universitären Laserambulanz.
