Patients with dissociative seizures are usually diagnosed in epilepsy centers. The journey from diagnosis to successful treatment takes place at the interface between the specialist disciplines of neurology, psychiatry, and psychosomatics. For this reason, specialized treatment wards were set up in Germany in the early 1990s, first in Bethel and later in Bernau, Kehl-Kork, and Kleinwachau.
