Immunotherapy for cancer is gaining momentum. The translational exploitation of the current understanding of cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) mechanisms was the main topic of a symposium in Pamplona, Spain, in October 2010 and sponsored by Miltenyi Biotec. The group of researchers gathered in Pamplona shared the common interest in taking forward knowledge from the laboratory to the clinic. The main topics were control of effector functions of CTLs, adoptive T cell transfer, and overcoming tumor resistance to immune attack. …
