Scientific progress often requires taking directions away from well-trodden paths and to open up new routes in terms of discovery and methodology. In cancer immunotherapy, an area that is advancing at a very fast pace, it is especially crucial to blaze new trails in pursuit of better treatments. The perception is that in the current state of affairs, no stone must be left unturned. The primary objectives of the organizers of the international meeting were to bring together senior representatives of the top pharmaceutical companies in oncoimmunology, basic scientists, and translational clinicians. A relatively informal atmosphere was chosen to foster communication and collaboration. …
