Die Verwendung autologen Knochens als Augmentationsmaterial gilt bei reduziertem ortsständigem Knochenangebot als klinischer Goldstandard. Um die Beeinträchtigungen und Einschränkungen, die mit der Verwendung von autologen Transplantaten einhergehen, überwinden zu können, gewinnen die Weiterentwicklung und klinische Verwendung von Knochenersatzmaterialien immer mehr an Bedeutung. Um für jeden Patienten die individuell beste Versorgung generieren zu können, ist eine sorgfältige Abwägung der Vorzüge sowie Einschränkungen eines jeden Augmentationsmaterials notwendig. Dabei sollten unter anderem das Ausmaß der Resorption sowie der Langzeiterfolg gesetzter Implantate betrachtet werden, die dazugehörige Literaturdatenlage ist jedoch uneinheitlich. …

Erhöhte Suizidrate unter US-Ärztinnen

Während der Arztberuf Männer eher vor Suizid schützt, erhöht er das Risiko bei Frauen – zumindest in den USA: Die Suizidinzidenz unter Ärztinnen ist um die Hälfte höher als unter Frauen mit anderen Berufen. Männliche Ärzte töten sich dennoch wesentlich häufiger selbst als weibliche.
