Zusammenfassung

Sport und körperliche Aktivität sind wirksame Maßnahmen der Gesundheitsförderung. Ihre Rolle bei Tumorpatienten wurde jedoch lange Zeit unterschätzt. Mittlerweile zeigen zahlreiche Untersuchungen, dass regelmäßige körperliche Aktivität bei Tumorpatienten nicht nur zu einer Verbesserung der körperlichen Leistungsfähigkeit, sondern auch zu einer Reduktion der Nebenwirkungen der Therapie (v. a. der Fatigue), einer Stimmungsaufhellung und einer Zunahme der Lebensqualität führt. Im folgenden Artikel wird die Rationale für die Anwendung von Sport bei Tumorpatienten beschrieben, es werden die Richtlinien für die Gestaltung von Trainingsprogrammen erklärt und die Indikationen und Kontraindikationen von Sport bei dieser Patientengruppe aufgelistet.
