Abstract

Nutritional support for patients with esophageal cancer remains a difficult challenge but has been demonstrated to improve surgical and quality of life outcomes along with better tolerance of chemoradiation therapy. Advances in minimally invasive procedures have increased treatment options for patients. These options include esophageal stenting, percutaneous enteral access, and laparoscopic enteral access. Each option has risks and benefits that must be discussed among a multidisciplinary team oncology team. Overall, several good options are available for nutritional support of patients with esophageal cancer.
