Abstract
Nausea and vomiting could result from various central nervous system causes such as migraine, seizures, stroke, infections such as tumor, tumors (primary or metastatic), pseudotumor cerebri, etc. However, our knowledge about the prevalence of nausea and vomiting in various primary central nervous system diseases and their underlying pathophysiology is limited. Similarly, there is paucity of data on improvement in symptoms of nausea and emesis in response to disease-specific treatment of underlying central nervous system disease process. Improved understanding of the pathophysiologic basis of these symptoms in central nervous system diseases has important implications for the exploitation of novel mechanisms or the development of novel therapies for the relief of nausea and emesis.
