Abstract

The purpose of this technical chapter is to describe medial and lateral meniscal allograft transplantation performed as an open procedure (Verdonk et al. (2005) J Bone Joint Surg Am 87:715–724; Verdonk et al. (2006) J Bone Joint Surg Am 88(suppl 1)pt 1:109–118; Verdonk et al. (2006) Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthroscopy 14:694–706). This technique primarily uses soft-tissue fixation of the allograft to the native meniscal rim. Additional transosseous fixation of the anterior and posterior horn can be used, as well as a tag on the anterior horn for soft tissue-bone fixation.
