Zusammenfassung

Es wird ein Überblick über Forschungsinhalte und Methodik empirischer Untersuchungen aus dem deutsch- und englischsprachigen Raum zu den psychosozialen Aspekten künstlicher Befruchtungstechniken — In-vitro-Fertilisation (IvF) und heterologe Insemination (HI) — gegeben. Schwerpunkt dieser Untersuchungen ist die psychische Verfassung von Paaren, die eine solche Behandlung wünschen; die psychischen Belastungen durch diese Behandlungsformen, die eheliche Situation und kindliche Entwicklung nach erfolgreicher Behandlung werden ebenfalls thematisiert. Die psychischen Bedingungen und Folgen der nicht erfolgreichen Therapien sind hingegen kaum beachtet worden. Es wird empfohlen, daß zukünftige Untersuchungen sich vermehrt dieser Themenstellung widmen, um damit auch eine bessere empirische Grundlage zur Frage der Beratung und Betreuung der betroffenen Paare aus psychologischer Sicht zu erhalten.

Summary

An overview is given of the contents and methods of studies reported in German or English on the psychosocial aspects of in vitro fertilization and artificial insemination by donor. The main topic of these studies is the psychological characteristic of patients desiring such treatment. Further topics are the psychological strains associated with these treatments and the marital relationship and the development of the child after a successful treatment. The psychological factors which may determine the outcome of therapy and the consequences of unsuccessful therapies have not been investigated in a systematic fashion. It is recommended that future studies should address these questions which are of fundamental importance for the counseling of infertile couples.
