Lerntransfer bedeutet, dass Kenntnisse und Fertigkeiten, die in Trainings, Workshops oder Coachings erworben wurden, in die Arbeitstätigkeit integriert werden. In der betrieblichen Praxis werden Transfererfolge selten systematisch überprüft (vgl. Bergmann & Sonntag, 2006, oder auch Solga, Kap. 6: Evaluation der Personalentwicklung). Oft fehlt es an Zeit und Geld, um Aktivitäten dieser Art zu ermöglichen. Vielfach wird ein entsprechender Handlungsbedarf auch gar nicht gesehen — es wird angenommen, dass Gelerntes selbstverständlich auch Anwendung findet.
