Abstract

The binocular indirect ophthalmomicroscope (BIOM) incorporates the principles of indirect ophthalmoscopy in the operating microscope. When used with an image inverting system, it enables noncontact 70°–90° wide-angle observation of the fundus during vitreous microsurgery.
