Trauma durch die präklinische Atemwegssicherung?

Zusammenfassung

Die Sicherung der Atemwege ist eine in der präklinischen Situation selten durchgeführte Maßnahme. In den letzten Jahren hat es zunehmend Hinweise darauf gegeben, dass die Sicherung der Atemwege auch für im Atemwegsmanagement erfahrene Retter schwieriger ist als unter elektiven Bedingungen. Gleichzeitig wird der Nutzen der präklinischen trachealen Intubation, v. a. für die Versorgung traumatologischer Patienten, von verschiedenen Autoren infrage gestellt. Dieser Übersichtsbeitrag erörtert die Problematik präklinischer Studien zur Atemwegssicherung und diskutiert Möglichkeiten, die zu einer verbesserten präklinischen Versorgung führen könnten.
