Sind Muskelrelaxanzien obligat für die Intubation bei Kindern? – Betrachtet man die Bedeutung von „obligat“, so steht dieses Wort für „verbindlich, von einer Autorität vorgeschrieben, nicht fakultativ“. Grundlegend betrachtet, gibt es viele verschiedene Wege in der Kinderanästhesie, die zu einem vergleichbaren „outcome“ führen. Zudem ist die Evidenz gerade in der Kinderanästhesie oft mangelhaft, weshalb die alltägliche Praxis eher auf „Expertenwissen“ als auf „harten“ Daten beruht. In der Kinderanästhesie sind starre Schemata oftmals kontraproduktiv. Noch mehr als in anderen Disziplinen der Medizin ist es von enormer Bedeutung, das eigene Vorgehen auf das individuelle Kind und dessen Familie, die geplante Operation und das gesamte interdisziplinäre behandelnde Team anzupassen. Es ist daher nur in Ausnahmefällen sinnvoll, Medikamente obligat, d. h. allen Kindern, zu verabreichen. …
