Diagnostik von Erkrankungen und der Funktion des N. facialis

Zusammenfassung

Der N. facialis hat einen komplizierten Verlauf vom Hirnstamm bis in die Peripherie. Da der Nerv nicht nur motorische, sondern auch sekretorische, sensorische und sensible Fasern führt, sind die möglichen Funktionsstörungen vielfältig. Über weite Strecken ist der Nerv aufgrund seines langen Verlaufs durch das Felsenbein einer direkten Diagnostik nicht zugänglich. Daher ist die Diagnostik der Funktion und die Differenzialdiagnostik der Erkrankungen des N. facialis oft eine große Herausforderung für den HNO-Arzt. In der vorliegenden Übersichtsarbeit werden die wichtigsten klinischen Untersuchungsverfahren, die Elektrodiagnostik und die moderne Bildgebung zur Abklärung von Erkrankungen des N. facialis ausführlich dargestellt und kritisch beleuchtet. Gesondert wird auf die Bedeutung des Monitoring des N. facialis in der Kleinhirnbrückenwinkelchirurgie, der Parotischirurgie und der Ohrchirurgie eingegangen.
