Multimodale Therapiestrategien bei der Behandlung von Kopf- und Halskarzinomen

Zusammenfassung

Die Überlebensraten von Patienten mit einem Karzinom der Kopf- und Halsregion (HNSCC) haben sich in den letzten 50 Jahren deutlich verbessert. Neben Veränderungen bei der Narkoseführung sind dabei auch die gegenüber früher häufigeren Kombinationen verschiedener Therapieverfahren zu berücksichtigen. Weithin wird akzeptiert, dass Patienten mit fortgeschrittenen Karzinomen eine multimodale Behandlung erhalten. Es muss sich noch zeigen, welche Modalität am sinnvollsten primär einzusetzen ist. Primär die Strahlen- oder Chemotherapie einsetzende Ansätze waren eine Weile führend, zzt. gibt es zunehmend Hinweise darauf, dass primär chirurgische Konzepte gute Ergebnisse erzielen. Außerdem spielt in letzter Zeit auch der Einsatz des EGF- (Epidermal-growth-factor-)Antikörpers Cetuximab eine zunehmend größere Rolle.
