Zusammenfassung

Die Depressionsforschung wird sich auch in Zukunft an der Genetik, der Pharmakologie von Antidepressiva sowie molekularen und klinischen Biomarkern orientieren. Mithilfe neuer Technologien werden Patientenpopulationen mit nahezu gleichen Krankheitsmechanismen identifiziert, die spezifisch mit neuen oder Kombinationen vorhandener Medikamente behandelt werden. Dies bedeutet die Integration neurowissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse in die Depressionsdiagnostik. Der auf Gentests und Biomarker gestützte Ansatz der personalisierten Depressionstherapie eröffnet die Möglichkeit, Erkrankungsrisiken früh zu erkennen und gezielt zu intervenieren, bevor die Krankheitssymptome entstehen.
