Oxytozin

Evidenz für ein therapeutisches Potenzial des sozialen Neuromodulators

Zusammenfassung

Nur wenige Substanzen haben in den vergangenen Jahren solch große Prominenz erlangt wie das hypothalamische Neuropeptid Oxytozin, vielen auch bekannt als „Bindungshormon“. Oxytozin ist ein potenter Neuromodulator, der sozial-kognitive Funktionen verbessern kann, darunter Empathie, Vertrauen, Kooperation und soziales Lernen. Oxytozin kann aber auch negatives Sozialverhalten fördern und z. B. schlechte Erinnerungen und Angstgefühle in sozialen Situationen verstärken. Positive Daten erster klinischer Therapiestudien beflügeln die Hoffnung, mit Oxytozin eine Substanz zur Verfügung zu haben, die sich für die gezielte Behandlung sozial-kognitiver Leistungsschwächen bei neuropsychiatrischen Erkrankungen eignet. Der vorliegende Übersichtsartikel fasst die wichtigsten präklinischen und klinischen Humanstudien der jüngeren Zeit zusammen und diskutiert die dargestellten Befunde vor dem Hintergrund aktueller Konzepte zu Personen- und Kontexteinflüssen.
