Zusammenfassung

Hintergrund

Sexuelle Funktionen unterliegen einer Steuerung durch hormonelle und neurochemische Faktoren sowie neuronale Netzwerke. Ein Verständnis dieser Grundlagen ist für die Diagnostik, Beratung und Behandlung sexueller Probleme notwendig.

Ziel der Arbeit

Darstellung der grundlegenden Mechanismen sexueller Funktionen auf neurochemischer und neuronaler Ebene.

Material und Methoden

Literaturrecherche, Auswahl und Diskussion bedeutender Arbeiten.

Ergebnisse

In Analogie zum Dual Control Model finden sich primär inhibitorische (z. B. Serotonin) oder aber exzitatorische Neurotransmittersysteme (Sexualsteroide, Dopamin). Zudem können neuronale Hirnstrukturen identifiziert werden, die für die neuronale Prozessierung sexueller Reize verantwortlich sind und bei Personen mit sexuellen Funktionsstörungen oder durch pharmakologische Maßnahmen (z. B. Antiandrogene oder selektive Serotoninaufnahmehemmer, SSRI) Veränderungen unterliegen.

Diskussion

Die Kenntnis der Neurobiologie der Sexualität bildet eine Grundlage der Behandlung von sexuellen Dysfunktionen in der Psychiatrie und anderen Fachbereichen.
