Zusammenfassung

Hintergrund

Trotz optimaler medikamentös-konservativer Therapie kommt es bei einem relevanten Prozentsatz an Patienten mit Wirbelkörperkompressionsfrakturen (WKF) zu keiner relevanten Besserung der Schmerzbeschwerden. Die Vertebroplastie (VP) und Kyphoplastie (KP) werden in der Literatur als perkutane interventionelle Verfahren zur Behandlung von WKF beschrieben.

Fragestellung

Beurteilung der Effektivität der VP und KP zur Behandlung von WKF und Diskussion der Verfahren im Kontext mit der aktuellen Literatur.

Material und Methode

Darstellung der Grundlagen von VP und KP sowie ihrer Weiterentwicklungen. Beschreibung der Indikationen und Kontraindikationen. Diskussion der aktuellen Literatur sowie Empfehlungen der einzelnen Fachgesellschaften.

Ergebnisse

Bei Patienten mit Wirbelkörperkompressionsfrakturen kommt es nach VP oder KP des betroffenen Wirbelkörpers zu einer Reduktion der Schmerzbeschwerden in mehr als 90 % der Fälle. Klinisch-relevante Komplikationen treten dabei in weniger als 1 % der Interventionen auf.

Empfehlung für die Praxis

VP und KP sind ein sicheres und effektives Verfahren zur Behandlung von schmerzhaften WKF. Eine optimale Patientenselektion verbessert das klinische Ergebnis.
