Zusammenfassung

Die Behandlung krummer und unterschiedlich langer Beine zählt zu den fundamentalen Aufgaben der Orthopädie. Während beim ausgewachsenen Patienten meist aufwendige und invasive operative Eingriffe erforderlich sind, kann im Kindes- und Jugendalter das Wachstumspotenzial der Epiphysenfugen zur Korrektur dieser Beinlängendifferenzen und Beinachsendeformitäten genutzt werden. Diese Wachstumslenkung wird durch eine als Epiphysiodese bezeichnete, vorübergehende oder permanente, je nach Indikation teilweise oder vollständige Blockierung der Epiphysenfuge herbeigeführt. Obwohl es sich bei dieser Methode um ein grundsätzlich wenig invasives und komplikationsarmes Verfahren handelt, sind sorgfältige präoperative Indikationsstellungen und Planungen, präzise Operationstechniken sowie achtsame postoperative Kontrolluntersuchungen zwingende Voraussetzung für den gewünschten Therapieerfolg.
