A 50-year-old female with intractable epistaxis arising from the posterior aspect of the left nasal cavity was referred for embolization. Selective left external carotid arteriography demonstrated a rich supply to the nasal cavity from both the internal maxillary (IMAX) terminal branches and the facial artery. The initial diagnostic arteriogram was performed through a 4 F Headhunter Type I hydrophilic catheter (Terumo Corporation, Tokyo, Japan) which was then manipulated into the IMAX from which point 700μm–900μm diameter microspheres (Embospheres, Guerbet, Paris, France) were injected (Fig. 1a, b).
