Zusammenfassung

Die Tumoren der Schilddrüse sind fast ausschließlich epithelialer Natur. Während das Adenom der Schilddrüse ein durchaus häufiger Tumor ist, machen die Karzinome der Schilddrüse nur etwa 1% aller menschlichen Malignome aus. Die differenzialdiagnostische Problematik der Unterscheidung Adenom—Karzinom sowie eine Reihe von Varianten und Besonderheiten dieser Tumoren bereiten dem Pathologen regelmäßig beträchtliche Probleme. Der folgende Übersichtsartikel ist der Versuch, einen Leitfaden für die histologische Begutachtung von Schilddrüsentumoren in der täglichen Routinetätigkeit zu geben. Besonderen Stellenwert wird der standardisierten Aufarbeitung der Schilddrüsenoperationspräparate, einem zielgerichteten diagnostischen Vorgehen, dem Einsatz der Immunhistochemie in der Schilddrüsenpathologie sowie dem intraoperativen Gefrierschnitt der Schilddrüse eingeräumt.
