Klinik der Limbusstammzellinsuffizienz

Zusammenfassung

Das für die kontinuierliche Epithelerneuerung der Hornhaut verantwortliche Limbusepithel kann durch unterschiedliche Erkrankungen beeinträchtigt werden und so das klinische Bild der Limbusstammzellinsuffizienz (LI) hervorrufen. Das Hauptmerkmal der LI stellt die Konjunktivalisierung der Hornhautoberfläche dar. Die klinischen Beschwerden können von leichtem Fremdkörpergefühl und Blendung bis hin zur Erblindung reichen. Die sichere Diagnosestellung ist für das therapeutische Vorgehen von entscheidender Bedeutung.
