Breast sebaceous carcinoma—a rare entity. Clinico-pathological description of two cases and brief review

Primary sebaceous carcinoma of the breast (SCB) was first described in 1977 (van Bogaert and Madalgue) as a morphological variant of the so-called lipid-secreting carcinoma [1]. It is now classified as an individual entity among “exceptionally rare special-type” breast carcinomas (WHO 4th edition), being defined as “a breast carcinoma with prominent sebaceous differentiation in no less than 50% of cells,” with no evidence of origin from adjacent skin or nipple [2]. Only 13 cases of primary SCB were reported so far. As a consequence, its behavior and prognosis are poorly known. Herein, we report clinical, histological, and immunohistochemical features of two cases of SCB diagnosed at our institution and perform a brief review of the literature. …
