Abstract
Sarcoptes scabiei infestation in cats was rare. A 1-year-old tom cat was presented to the clinic with recurrent dermatitis, emaciation, severe itching and presence of skin lesions over the face, forehead and ears. Microscopic examination of skin scrapings from the skin lesions revealed the presence of mites. Based on the morphology of the mites, sarcoptic mange was confirmed. Cat was treated with parenteral ivermectin and supportive therapy. Complete recovery was observed by the fifteenth day of treatment.
