Antioxidanzien und andere Mikronährstoffe in der komplementären Onkologie

Zusammenfassung

Ohne Frage ist die ausgewogene Ernährung des Tumorpatienten mit Makro- und Mikronährstoffen ein wesentlicher Faktor innerhalb der Therapie. Ein gezielter Ausgleich von Mangelerscheinungen sollte zunächst über eine ausführliche Ernährungsberatung und -begleitung, ggf. orale Supplemente und – wenn dies nicht ausreichend ist – auch über eine parenterale Ernährung erfolgen. Während einer laufenden aktiven antitumoralen Therapie in Form einer Chemotherapie, Radiatio oder auch einer „targeted therapy“ sind Mangelerscheinungen ebenfalls auszugleichen. Dass eine unkontrollierte und unkritische Aufnahme von Nahrungsergänzungsmitteln – z. T. auch in Form von hochdosierten Vitamin- und Spurenelementpräparaten – sinnvoll ist, konnte bisher in keiner Studie bewiesen werden. Umgekehrt gibt es präklinische und auch erste klinische Daten, die zeigen, dass Antioxidanzien, aber auch andere Mikronährstoffe den Erfolg der antitumoralen Therapie gefährden können. Komplexe Nahrungsergänzungsmittel sollten deshalb, auch wenn sie dem Patient sowie dem Verordner praktisch erscheinen, nicht eingesetzt werden.
