Moyamoya is a progressive vaso-occlusive disorder that involves the arteries of the Circle of Willis. This results in compromised cerebral blood flow and ischemia of the brain that promotes collateral artery prominence. With conventional angiography, this collateralization appears as a “puff of smoke,” or moyamoya in Japanese [1]. Although originally it was thought that this disease will affect only Asians, it has recently been shown to affect other ethnicities as well [2, 3]. Moyamoya disease has no known association with other conditions, but Moyamoya syndrome does. …
