Role of flavonoids in age-related macular degeneration
2023, Biomedicine and PharmacotherapyA comparative study of thermal effects of 3 types of laser in eye: 3D simulation with bioheat equation
2015, Journal of Thermal BiologyCitation Excerpt :Taflove and Brodwin (1975) showed temperature distribution in the eye by a finite difference model. Using Pennes bioheat equation and invasive tests, Priebe et al. (1975) and Emery et al. (1975) proposed one of the first these computer models for temperature distribution inside rabbit eye. Lagendijk (1982) presented different mathematical eye models for humans and rabbits in 1982 before Scott developed a FEM-model of the human eye in 1988.
Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty
2007, Survey of OphthalmologyCitation Excerpt :During such photocoagulation, the light absorption and temperature increase are roughly linearly proportional to the radiant exposure. An increase in temperature of more than 10°C results in denaturation and coagulation of proteins, with ensuing cell death, tissue necrosis, and scarring.87 SLT, much like the familiar 1064-nm Nd:YAG laser, delivers light energy in extremely short nanosecond pulses, eight orders of magnitude shorter than those of ALT.
