      Citation Excerpt :

Maxillary constriction cannot provide enough bone support for the UA, leading to collapsibility during sleep [10]. Although RME was primarily aimed to correct maxillary arch discrepancies, the orthopedic forces of RME could also affect the cranial and the circummaxillary sutures significantly [51]. The suture expansion in mixed or early permanent dentition was described as pyramidal- or V-shaped with a wider opening on the anterior suture (intermaxillary and maxillary frontal nasal interfaces), whereas the posterior craniofacial structures remained intact (zygomatic interface) [52–54], thereby causing forward and downward movement of the maxilla and expansion of nasal width.
