2021, Advances in Clinical ChemistryCitation Excerpt :According to Ozok et al., the DTF composition is an important parameter for determining the rate of formation and progression of dentinal caries, while the DTF flow rate does not correlate with the degree of demineralization [76]. As shown in the study by Knutsson et al., the amount and quality of proteins present in DTF represent the composition of plasma proteins (in particular, albumin, IgG, and fibrinogen) in the pulpal interstitial fluid [78]. Meanwhile, Geraldeli S et al. measured the levels of chemokines and cytokines, and postulated that cytokines are locally produced in the pulp and not derived from serum, suggesting the active transport of cytokines from serum to the dentinal fluid [77].
