The efficacy and toxicity of grayanoids as analgesics: A systematic review
2022, Journal of EthnopharmacologyCitation Excerpt :The above evidence suggested that the direct effect of 1 on myocardial contractility and arrhythmia may be mediated by an increase in resting sodium permeability and the generation of persistent action potentials (Ito et al., 1985). In the purkinje model of isolated feline heart fibroblasts, it has also been confirmed that the mechanism by which grayanoids induced arrhythmias was mainly the triggering activity in the form of post-oscillatory potential (Brown et al., 1981). In terms of central system effects, 1 greatly promoted the uptake of radioactive Na + by meningial vesicles in animals, suggesting that the toxicity of these compounds may be positively correlated with lipophility, while TTX completely antagonized this phenomenon (Condrescu and Villegas, 1982; Matthews et al., 1981).
