2020, Best Practice and Research: Clinical GastroenterologyCitation Excerpt :Exploring and developing coping strategies for disclosure with a health professional can help the young person gain in confidence in this arena. Many long-term survivors of transplantation report satisfactory involvement with completion of education and high levels of employment [3,6] but this depends on their general health and motivation as in the past, unemployment was associated with lower educational performance related to poorer self-esteem [27]. Conventional approaches to promote emotional well-being in young people with chronic illness and/or disability often include referral to psychology services.
